Exile Talks Workshop: Basics for Freelancers

CORRECTIV invites exiled journalists to an introductory workshop on how freelancing works in Germany. Over two hours, we will explore the essentials: how to register and invoice clients, what to know about taxes and insurance, and which legal frameworks shape independent work. We will also touch on visa options and share practical insights into getting started as a freelancer.
The workshop is designed to give you a clear overview of the German system, answer common questions, and connect you with others facing similar challenges. Alongside expert input, there will be time to meet fellow journalists in exile, exchange experiences, and continue conversations over snacks.
