Exile Talks: Same Label, Different Experience
30. September um 19:00 – 21:00 in Berlin

What does it mean to share the label “exile”, while facing very different opportunities and barriers, both largely depending on your country of origin?
This edition of “Exile Talks” explores the different layers of realities of exile in Germany. The discussion focuses on the challenges exiled journalists and human rights defenders encounter when navigating the German migration system and interacting with German human rights organisations and the media landscape. We will examine how social inequalities, structural racism, and other discriminatory policies shape access to society, covering topics such as visas, work permits, employment, cooperation opportunities, institutional support and protection from transnational repression.
